Hi, I’m Teri

I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Teri, and I’m the cupcake behind A Cupcake for the Teacher… where teaching is sweet! I’m an elementary school teacher from New Jersey (and I’m very happy to say, I have no idea how to pump my own gas). I simply LOVE all things teaching related!

My Story

I began my college career at the University of Delaware. After two (very fun) years, I realized I wanted to be closer to home, so I transferred to and graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a B.A. in Spanish Language Studies and completion of the Teacher Education and Certification Program. I started my teaching career in sixth grade in 2008—which I quickly learned was not for me—then went on to teach first and second grades. My heart definitely belongs with the little ones!

My adventure as a teacher-author began at the end of 2011, as a way to connect with other teachers and share my ideas. I opened my TpTstore alongside my website, where I began selling my materials to teachers around the world. I love being able to support teachers and students with the same inspiring activities I’ve used in my own classroom!

My Family

Apart from teaching, I am a wife and mama. I married my husband, Matt, in July 2011. Together we welcomed two beautiful girls to our family, Summer and Leila. They are both super sweet, silly, and snuggly. They keep us busy! As a family we love to visit the beach or swim in our pool, go to the bowling alley/arcade, and stay in and play board games or watch a movie.

I also love to spend time with my family—I’m incredibly close with my brother and parents. We live close-by, so we see each other often, and we love to vacation together (especially to Myrtle Beach). I recently lost my Daddy, who was and always will be my hero. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today if not for him. He was so very proud of me and I promise to continue to make him proud every day. I love you, Daddy!

About Me

When I’m not chasing my girls around or working on creating resources, you can find me watching one of my favorite shows or movies (I love Bravo, Desperate Housewives, and early 2000s rom-coms) or lost in a good book (mostly psychological thrillers and spicy romance). I enjoy long walks through Target and hitting up my favorite stores at the mall!

My Goal

My ultimate goal is to support busy teachers by creating fun, engaging, and meaningful activities for the classroom. Here and in my shop, you’ll find tons of resources for literacy, math, classroom management, and more. You’ll also find many crafts in my shop, because I believe they are so much more than just fun art projects.

I hope you’ll cozy up, take a look around, and find some inspiration to take back to your little learners!
